Organic convenience foods, from frozen dinners to corn chips to cold cereal, are increasingly showing up in supermarkets. Consumers often choose them for their more wholesome ingredients. While conventional prepared foods are often full of unrecognizable additives, organic versions do not contain artificial colors or flavors, genetically-engineered organisms (GEOs), or high fructose corn syrup. However, there is an ongoing debate about the value of organic prepared foods. While proponents praise these products for meeting the increasing demand for healthy convenience foods, critics argue that highly-processed items, often produced in factories, ignore the true spirit of organics, straying far from ingredients' original farm origins.
